Source4Teachers Sponsors NJ's 35th Annual Balloon festival

Source4Teachers was a proud sponsor of this year's QuickChek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning in Readington! The balloon festival is one of New Jersey's largest summer events with about 175,000 people in attendance. The festival took place July 28th-30th and was filled with food, rides, concerts, vendors, and, of course, balloons!

About 100 hot air balloons of all shapes and sizes took to the sky over the weekend. As sponsors, Source4Teachers was featured on one of the many colorful balloons!

"With more than 100 partner school districts throughout the state and a handful right in Hunterdon County, we have plenty of opportunities for people to work in meaningful roles in their communities' schools. We want the people of New Jersey to know about our daily, long-term, and permanent opportunities in education, and we thought a hot air balloon would be a fun and unique way to help us spread the word!" said Noelle Baglivo, Source4Teachers Senior Vice President of Operations in New Jersey.

Fun Hot Air Balloons Facts:

  • There are two parts to a hot air balloon. The balloon itself is called an envelope, which is connected to a wicker basket. The basket has metal rods inserted to make it sturdy.
  • The basket contains two 20-gallon propane tanks to heat the balloon. The balloon is able to lift off the ground once the temperature inside the balloon is hotter than the temperature outside.
  • A used balloon can cost about $30,000, while a new balloon can cost up to $200,000!
  • During the festival, balloons were either launched at 6:30 am or 6:30 pm. This is because the winds tend to be calmer an hour after sunrise and an hour prior to sunset.
